Advice is just words when nobody is listening and ILLA Streight’s lyrics have definitely had their share of not being heard. Using this rather as motivation to better himself with each new song, ILLA is constantly working on his craft. He claims being able to write lyrics about everyday life from the perspective of an everyday person is something that is key to making timeless music.
The inspiration behind the writing process of “Let’s get eL-evated” was visualizing the concept of ordinary people “chancing their luck” to eL-evate them self into a better situation. Video director WestNyle brilliantly uses the metaphor of the OLG (Ontario Lottery Gaming) representing the Government and ILLA Streight representing the average player/person in society (Canada) going about their regular business hoping to cash in, turning small change into big money. Some win and most lose, similar to the idea of 1% rich and 99% poor. Within two days this conscious single was composed and ready to lay down in the booth which ended up being at Sound Resolve studio in Miss,Ont. “Let’s get eL-evated”, is the first single release and video off ILLA Streight’s upcoming 2016 “The Demo”.
